Why a referendum?

Every student at ACAD is currently a member of the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS), a national student lobbying group and service provider.

Each ACAD student is assessed a mandatory $3.99 per semester as a membership fee in CFS. Last year that amounted to $9,256.80.

We feel that this is not money well spent, and wanted to take the question of continued membership to ACAD students.

On March 30 - April 1, students at ACAD will vote in a referendum on the following question:

Are you in favour of continued membership in the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS)?

We say no.
